The Mount Rainier Pool will be returning to appointment only usage on Monday, October 25  due to the King County Vaccine Verification Proclamation. We are required to check each and every person entering this facility for vaccination status.

The District is making the following changes to ensure a safe environment and that each and everyone is vaccinated or has a negative Covid-19 test within 72-hours of using the facility. (See more information below on vaccination requirements). In addition, please show up showered. Participants will be able to shower afterwards, but not before. This is to allow for better control social distancing in the pool. See below for more detailed information.

Appointments must be made before using the pool and can be made by calling (206) 824-4722 (There are no online appointments.). All spots are first-come, first-served. You can be added to a waitlist. If a spot becomes available three hours before a swim, staff will contact you.

ONE APPOINTMENT PER DAY: Users will be limited to one appointment per day. This is to ensure everyone gets access to the limited pool time.

SHOWERING: Come ready to swim with your swimsuit on under your clothes.  Showering before entering the pools helps ensure clean, clear and safe water conditions. We will allow people to shower on their way out to better have flow through the facility and ensure social distancing outside of the water.

SOCIAL DISTANCING: It is important all patrons keep six feet of social distance including while in the water (without their mask on) and outside the water. (See section below for more information.)

MASKS: Masks are still required for all facility users including vaccinated outside of the pool. Chairs will be left on the side of the pool for patrons to keep their masks, while they are in the water.

CHILDREN UNDER 12: Children under 12 years of age need to be accompanied by an adult. Everyone 12 years and older will need to meet the vaccination verification requirements above.

SPECTATORS (INCLUDING SWIM LESSONS): Spectators will not be allowed for swim meets or practices. Parents can wait in their cars. The only exemption is parents with children under the age of 12, who attend swim lessons or family swims. These parents will need to follow the vaccination verification rules above. (Note-all children not swimming of parents, who are spectating, must be within arms length.)

The district understands that these services/limitations were not what you signed up for. If you would like to request to hold your pass until services are back to pre-Covid-19 levels (or an acceptable level) or you would like to request a refund, please contact us with information below.

Please call the Mount Rainier Pool Office at (206) 824-4277 or email us at

The Mount Rainier Pool wants to ensure that people are aware of the mandates before they attend programming. This ensures a quality experience for all, and the safety of our patrons, staff and surrounding community.

Although Covid-19 is not spread through the water, it can be spread from face-to-face interactions. We are making these changes for the meantime until we are sure that everyone will properly check in and follow social distancing guidelines.

Appointments are first-come, first served and can be made 48-hours before your appointment. All appointments are by phone or in-person (no online). Our phone number is (206) 824-4277.

You can cancel up to four hours. Participants that “no show” or cancel under four hours before will have the charge to their visit. The District reserves the right to not give reservations to users that cancel last second or “no show” repeatedly to ensure everyone has a chance to swim.

Do you have more questions or would like to speak to someone in person? Our Interim Aquatics Manager, Quentin Knox, is here to help. You can call him at (206) 824-4722 or email him at

We hope to have more information on other programming coming in the future as conditions change! Thank you for following these communications.
