We have updated the Swim Lesson webpage. Please read through it as there are some changes. This email contains swim lesson information for Winter (January-March) 2024. Staff have added capacity including five instructors per session (adding seven new classes) including a new 8:30am set of classes. We hope you enjoy the changes we have made in response to your feedback. See below for more detailed information.
NEW CLASS SCHEDULE
- Dates: Saturdays, 8:30-11:30am (No Class on February 17)
- Times: 8:30-11:30am (See exact times for open classes)

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION TIMES
Registration for new students will be broken into two times. Residents of Des Moines and Normandy Park will be given an earlier registration time for tax support of the pool. Below is the break down of registration. All classes are first-come, first-serve.
- Resident Registration: 10am on Saturday, December 16
- Non-Resident Registration: Noon on Saturday, December 16
REGISTRATION METHODS
Registration is open by phone or in-person. There are three people helping in-person to each person over the phone. There is no online registration for new students.
- In-person: We will start handing out numbers at 9:15am. Please check-in at the desk or with a staff member to get your number.
- Phone: All phone calls will be received in the order they are received. Please do not hang up and recall, and please do not try to call othe district numbers to get around other people waiting on hold. The main number to call is 206.824.4722.
- Waitlists: Please read waitlist protocols on the website.

PLACEMENT EVALUATION PROCESS FOR NEW STUDENTS (INCLUDES TRANSFERS)
If you are a new student who wants to get involved with swim lessons at our facility, you will either be placed in our lowest class available for the age of the student
Age 6 months-3 years 11 months: Parent and Child 1
Age 4 years-6 years 11 months: Preschool Aquatics 1
Age 7 years-14 years 11 months: Learn-to-Swim 1
OR you can take a swim placement test to try and try to start in a higher level.
You can come into the facility at any time we are open to the public, no appointment is necessary. Click here to visit our schedule page.
A lessons instructor will run though our evaluation and place them in the appropriate level.
SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW
We have updated our scholarship program including a simplified process, resident focus, and 90% coverage for all programs! The scholarship program is for residents only (Des Moines and Normandy Park). Click here to view our scholarship page for more information.
WEEKDAY CLASSES
If you cannot make registration for Winter Saturday classes, just a reminder that we will be starting (2x/week) weekday classes in February. Registration for these classes will be in early January. If you are not a member of our email notification system, please click here to sign up for our email notification list. People signed up for notifications will always be the first to know of major changes.
