Dear Valued Customer,
The Mount Rainier Pool will have a critical pool closure schedule from February 20 to March 3. See the below schedule for exact closures, with some partial closures starting on February 22.
CLOSURE PROGRAMMING SCHEDULES*
We have broken out the schedule by week. Below are schedules (pdf) to help you find when your programming is available. We have some full and partial closure days in an attempt to stay open as much as possible.
SWIM LESSONS
There will be no swim lessons on Saturday, February 17*. Classes will resume on Saturday, February 24 and run through the end of the session on March 9.
*When setting Winter swim lessons, we scheduled a break during President’s Day weekend for families that may travel. This closure break should not affect any other swim lesson schedules.
PASSES
If you have a paid membership pass for swimming and/or water exercise and need an extension due to the closure, please call us at 206.824.4722 or email info@mtrainierpool.com.
WHY
The Mount Rainier Pool is approaching 50 years old (opened in 1975), and some of its equipment shows its age. From time to time, there is a need for critical repairs. The air handling unit, which controls the pool’s air, has broken down several times over the last couple of months, and our goal is to stabilize the units. We chose the dates above because we needed time to order the parts and finalize the Mount Rainier Boys Swim Team season. Our goal is to have these in place to stabilize operations through the Spring and Summer, our busiest times for swim lessons.
OTHER CRITICAL REPAIR PROJECTS
The closure repairs include the air handling unit, variable flow drive pump, filter plumbing support, shower heat controls, and toilet and urinal repairs. We were initially set to close the entire facility for two weeks, but staff has worked with contractors to keep the facility open in the evenings starting February 26 through March 1, and Saturdays for swim lessons.
